Mobile Phones

Nowadays, we are surrounded by many new technologies and the mobile phone is one of them. In this essay I am going to argue about not using a mobile phone while driving a car.

In this part of the argument I would like to make it clear that this little device is very necessary to us and it became a part of our life for several reasons. The main reason is it makes our life easy when we communicate with each other for any emergency or ask about each other’s conditions. Another reason is if your car is broken-down in a remote area you will need to ask for help. A further reason is to help police to locate the criminals by satellite .Also while they hunt them they should talk with somebody to show them the direction to those criminals. The final reason is if you get a call from anybody, for instance friend or family or anybody in danger that needs help from you, you will need somebody to show you the direction.

However, even though the mobile is important for us that does not prevent some disadvantages. The first disadvantage is it is one of the reasons which leads to car accidents and that is based on research about car accidents. The second disadvantage is it keeps you busy from anybody who accompanies you in the car. The final reason is some scientists say the mobile phone affects your brain when you are driving more than when you are not and that is because while you are driving you concentrate on two things and with one thing if you are not.

In conclusion, this little machine helps us a lot in our life, but at the same time it affected us .In my opinion it depends on how, when and where to use it.

Is a woman’s proper role in society to pursue a career or to be a mother and wife?

Traditionally a woman’s role has been as a mother and wife. However, more and more women worldwide are being educated to a high level and are pursuing careers. Does this pose a threat to the upbringing of young children and to social stability? There are many reasons why a woman should be at home to look after her children. Children need their mother’s love and attention. A mother substitute, like a maid, however caring, cannot provide the same emotional support that a child needs. In addition, a maid may not speak the child’s language and there may well be cultural differences. A mother plays a crucial role in developing her child’s language and cultural awareness. Even worse, if there is no mother and no maid at home, children will feel neglected.

On the other hand, women have an important role to play in society. If intelligent women want to pursue careers, why should they not have the same opportunity to do so as men? Women have a lot to offer to society, which would be poorer if they couldn’t do so. In the West, it is generally accepted that women have the choice of whether to pursue a career or not. Of course there are more traditional societies where this is more difficult.

In an ideal world, a woman should be able to pursue a career and also have time to bring up a family, but it’s not an easy task to get the balance right.

Mobile Phones

Years ago, mobile phones were not a big problem in the class because there were no phones in the past. Also, there were no electronic devices such as laptops and electronic dictionaries.

There are a lot of advantages of the mobile phone. Mobile phones are the most important device these days because we can communicate with others easily; also it makes a good reminder of things when I make notes on it. In addition, you can save a lot of things such as old pictures, numbers and names. Now, you can check your email in any places. For example, if you travel to another place but you don’t have a laptop, you can check your email in the phone.

There are a lot of disadvantages of the mobile phone in the class. First, the students can’t concentrate during the class because the students are busy with their phones. Also, that affects their grades and maybe they will fail at the end of the semester. Second, some times the students use the mobile phone to cheat in the exams and copy the answer from another student by using the Bluetooth.

On balance of agree and disagree we should ban the phones in the classroom.

Traffic Congestion and Parking Problems

Traffic congestion and parking problems are the most difficult problem Abu Dhabi faced during the past five years.

There are a lot of reasons that lead to the traffic congestion and parking problems. Increased population is a reason for traffic congestion because the number of people in Abu Dhabi has been increaseing year by year. However, the number of people affects the traffic. The second reason is economic development. Abu Dhabi is one of the top ten countries which have an oil industry development. When you look around you in Abu Dhabi you will see big buildings and towers. So, the development affects Abu Dhabi and most of the people in it have a lot of money so that anyone can buy a car. The third reason is lack of adequate public transport. They should plan to build a train system inside Abu Dhabi to transport the people from their home to work.

On the other hand, there are a lot of solutions that can help the people to find parking and reduce the traffic congestion. The first solution, improve the existing road network by constructing more bridges, overpasses and underpasses to ease traffic flow. The second solution, improve public transport, with better bus services and a new rail network, as in Dubai with its new metro. Finally, put the big machine such as SALEK to reduce the traffic because some people are't ready to pay usually.

In conclusion, the first solution is already underway, an example being the recently opened underpass on Salam Street, near Khalifa Park. Similarly, public bus services have been much improved recently.

Water shortages in the UAE

The UAE is a desert country, with very little annual rainfall, and so there is a constant problem of water shortage.

The most obvious reason for the shortage of water is the rapid population growth. More people means more food and this has led to a growing demand for an increase in agricultural production, which in turn means more irrigation and therefore more water. In addition, the economy of the country has expanded enormously over the past 50 years. Industrialization has greatly increased the demand for water. The climate of the UAE makes it difficult to meet the increased demand for water. There is very little rainfall and no surface water. Wastage of water and leaking water pipes make the situation worse.

Desalination is perhaps the most obvious solution. It’s expensive but the UAE is a rich country. Similarly, making better use of underground water is not cheap but it would help to answer to the problem. Dams to store water when it does rain have already been built in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. Charging people more for water, educational programmes in schools and colleges, and national advertising campaigns could also raise public awareness of the problem.

In practice, the UAE gets most of its fresh water from desalination plants. This is the most obvious short-term solution. In the long run, however, raising public awareness of the problem and encouraging people to use water more responsibly is the most important factor in solving the problem of water shortages.
