Hurricanes and Tornadoes

This chart shows us the information about the hurricanes and tornadoes.

There are three main differences between hurricanes and tornadoes. Hurricanes have a higher minimum speed than tornadoes because the hurricanes are 74 mph and the tornadoes are 40 mph. But at the maximum speed tornadoes are faster than hurricanes. The second difference between hurricanes and tornadoes is the classification scale. Hurricanes have the Saffir- Simpson C1-C5 while tornadoes have the Fujita F0-F5. The third difference is duration. They can predict the hurricanes for 2-3 days for a wide area but can usually predict more exactly where a hurricane will hit 6-10 hours beforehand but tornadoes only 20 minutes or less. Tornadoes only last a few minutes, some up to a few hours, while hurricanes have 1 week average. Hurricanes start in over warm oceans on the other hand tornadoes usually start over land.

In conclusion, hurricanes and tornadoes have most of the same characteristics but there are some differences.
