Top Date-Producing Countries, 2001

This bar chart shows the order of the countries that produced the dates in 2001.

Egypt was the top of the countries, producing about 1,100,000 tonnes. There were a lot of reasons but the most important reason was it has the Nile River. Iran was the second highest producer of dates. It's close to Egypt. Egypt produced more than Iran by about 250,000 tonnes. Following them came the UAE and Saudi Arabia, rivaling each other with about 740,000 tonnes each. Pakistan and Iraq, with outputs of approximately 630,000, were not far behind. Algeria supplied the world with nearly 400,00 tonnes and Oman around a quarter of a million. Finally, Sudan and Libya crops yielded under 0.2 million each.

In conclusion, date production was most plentiful in Egypt and Iran. In contrast, the lowest producers were Libya and Sudan.
